DON'T LOOK AT ME!

I have recently started taking the metrolink into work every morning...
1) because it's the responsible thing to do for the enviroment
2) because if I don't, I inevitably arrive to find there is a Cards game which means I have to pay $20 for parking or park 12 blocks away
3) because I rather enjoy taking public transportation

This is not a new experience for me, as I lived in Chicago for years and did not own a car. I very much liked taking public transport and having me time on the train to read, listen to music, whatever. Taking the train here is a bit different and some of the people seem to not have gotten the memo about social rules on the train. There are unwritten rules for taking a train or bus that everyone knows, but it seems that many folks in St. Louis have somehow not picked up on these cues.

1) Do not look directly at anyone. Even if the train is body to body and your face is planted up against someones forehead, look away. Even if you can't see them, staring at your shoes is always a safe option.
2) Wear deodorant. This should be a life rule, but in a situation that warrants you to thrust your armpit up against someones face because you are holding onto a rail to keep your balance , you may want to wear a little deodorant.
Just a thought.
3)No singing on the train. No you are not a thug or the next Eminem, so put some pants on that fit and stop singing in my ear. I'm trying to listen to the Indigo Girls on my MP3 player.
4)Do not talk to your neighbor. You are old, I am not. No I am not in college and I don't want to talk about my day or your health issues. Here is a hint....if I'm wearing headphones...I DON'T WANT TO TALK.
If everyone follows these simple rules, we'll all have a happy commute.
Good Day fellow commuters. I'll see you soon.
